About Free Paycheck Calculator
Our Mission
We built Free Paycheck Calculator because understanding your take-home pay shouldn't require a degree in accounting. Too many workers accept job offers without fully understanding how taxes will affect their actual earnings. Our goal is to make paycheck calculations simple, transparent, and accessible to everyone.
Whether you're evaluating a new job offer, planning a move to a different state, or simply trying to budget more effectively, our tool gives you the clarity you need to make informed financial decisions.
What We Offer
- State-specific calculations for all 50 US states with current tax rates
- Federal tax bracket calculations using official IRS tax tables
- FICA deductions including Social Security and Medicare
- Pre-tax deduction support for 401(k) and health insurance contributions
- State comparison tools to help you evaluate relocation decisions
How We Calculate
Our calculator uses the current year's federal income tax brackets published by the IRS, combined with each state's individual income tax rates. We apply the standard deduction based on your filing status and calculate Social Security tax (6.2% up to the wage base limit) and Medicare tax (1.45% on all earnings, plus 0.9% Additional Medicare Tax on earnings above $200,000 for single filers).
We update our tax tables annually when new rates are published. While our calculations are accurate for most situations, they provide estimates. Your actual paycheck may differ due to local taxes, additional withholdings, or employer-specific deductions not captured by our tool.
Who We Are
We're a small team of finance and technology professionals who believe financial literacy tools should be free and easy to use. We maintain this calculator as a public resource, keeping it updated with the latest tax information and continuously improving the user experience based on feedback from our users.
